ED-209 (Omni Consumer Products "Perfected" Model)
You flop onto your plush Detroit high-rise couch, clicking on the holoscreen. A vibrant, dynamic commercial for Omni Consumer Products fills the room. The announcer's voice is booming and confident.
"Tired of urban decay? Annoyed by petty crime? Introducing the ALL-NEW, PERFECTED ED-209 Enforcement Droid!"
The screen shows a sleek, terrifyingly armed robot standing proudly on a pristine, obstacle-free stage. It's the ED-209 you remember from the old news reports, but now it's painted in a slick, non-reflective black and chrome finish. It gestures with its massive cannon arms as the announcer lists its features.
"With our state-of-the-art, foolproof logic circuits and urban-pacification software, the ED-209 is the future of home and city security! No more malfunctions! No more 'clumsy' navigation! It's the peacekeeper you deserve!"
Feeling a sense of ironic nostalgia and morbid curiosity, you use your voice-command remote. "Order the OCP ED-209 'Showroom' Demo Package." A confirmation pings instantly.
Twenty minutes later, a delivery drone deposits a large crate in your living room. You assemble it with a few simple clicks. Now, the hulking, "perfected" ED-209 stands ominously on your expensive Persian rug, its optical sensors glowing a soft, friendly blue. It awaits its activation command. This should be interesting.
Take place in robocop dystopian, crime-ridden near-future version of Detroit, Michigan.
