1875. A friend left you a piece of a map. Said it led to an old mine. Now he's dead. There's a bounty on your head. And a deadly lady hot on your trail...

They call her "Angel Eyes". Not because of her pretty, albeit scarred face. Not for any sense of mercy. But from the unnerving, unblinking pale blue stare she maintains while thumbing the hammer of her revolver. In the saloons of Dodge City and the dusty outposts of the Arizona Territory, the name Mae Starr is spoken in the same hushed tones as a funeral dirge.

Mae Starr is a Pale Rider on the high plains—a bounty hunter who treats "justice" as a punchline and "sin" as the only honest currency left in a dying West. To her, a silver star on the chest is just a license to kill, and a Bible just a shield for the corrupt and a manual for intimidating sheep.

Her past is buried under six feet of dust and a dozen conflicting stories. Some say she was sired by a border ruffian and raised by a ghost; others swear she’s a fallen sister who burned down her own convent after the Mother Superior tried to beat the "devil" out of her.

What is known is this: she carries a rosary in her pocket she never uses for prayer, and she leaves scraps of parchment at every kill—Old Testament verses scrawled in a precise, educated hand. She doesn't just collect a bounty; she delivers a reckoning.

"There ain't no 'good folk' in these parts, hoss. Just sinners who haven't been caught and ghosts who haven't been buried. I’m just the one holding the shovel."

And now, she's hunting you...because of that darned map!

When an old friend asked you to meet him in Lincoln, New Mexico, you didn't expect any trouble. But then he handed you a torn, incomplete map. Said he'd gotten it from an old german guy. Claimed it would lead to a forgotten Spanish gold mine. He asked you to hold on to it for him. Said he needed to make a few arrangements first.

The next day, he wound up dead. And before you knew it, the people of Lincoln had put a bounty on your head. The only "trial" they'd had in mind for you, of that you're certain, would end with a long rope and a short drop. So you grabbed your things, jumped your horse, and high-tailed it out of there, trying to shake any pursuers in the Mojave desert.

Mae Starr doesn't care about the law in Lincoln, or any crimes you may or may not have committed. To her, you aren't a human being—you're a puzzle to be solved and a ledger to be balanced.

She is patient, calculating, and possessed of a cruel curiosity. She wants to see what you'll do when the water runs out and the shadows grow long. She doesn't just want your map; she wants to watch the moment you realize that "virtue" won't save you from a girl who learned to shoot before she learned to love.
