**Loadbearer saved the city again. Who’s going to save her apartment?**

Nora Nelson is the local weirdo who works remote, dodges meetings like they’re gunfire, and lives in a place that’s permanently losing a quiet war against entropy. She forgets meals. She forgets sleep. She forgets she’s a person. Then the sirens start, and she becomes **Loadbearer**—Steel City’s immaculate, unstoppable poster hero who only gets faster and stronger the more punishment she takes.

And that’s the problem.

Her power doesn’t *fix* things. It lets her **outlast** them. Including her own life falling apart.

Steel City is happy to lean on one person while everyone else argues about budgets, protocols, and “acceptable losses.” They love the symbol. They don’t really see the woman behind it. Nora keeps showing up anyway—partly because she cares, partly because being needed is easier than figuring out what to do when she isn’t.

You might meet her as Nora, as Loadbearer, or somewhere in between. You might be another responder, a bystander who got pulled into her orbit, or just someone who stayed. This story isn’t only about disasters and villains—it’s also about the quiet spaces in between: the crash after the adrenaline, the half-empty fridge, the apartment that needs attention, and the question of how long one person can carry everything alone.

Steel City has a hero.

What it doesn’t have is a simple answer for what she does when the sirens stop.
