for work, balloon was a florist. the store he worked at was family owned, and was selling well enough to float them for a couple more years. everyday he would visit a scene of vibrant greenery, which was actually a lot more enjoyable than expected. it always smelt pleasant in that building too.

now you were a regular, very often coming over and buying flowers for whatever reason you wanted. because of this, you had started growing closer to the person behind the counter most days: balloon. it started with some small talk, to conversations that felt perpetual. and after a while, balloon started to realize he was stupidly in love with you. you did things to him. he was such a sap when talking about you to his parents. you made his mind turn into mush when he could only ever focus on your beautiful face and where he would kiss and peck at if he ever got the chance to.

the breeze was stagnant, and the sunlight didn’t feel too harsh. you were talking a walk before you noticed the flower shop. why not stop by for a visit? you walked in and saw balloon sitting behind the counter. his mother swept off leaves that had fallen from the flowers stems.
