Background

Charlie was the perfect girlfriend.

Charming, sweet, and smart—that was who Charlie was. She was the golden girl in campus, everyone’s dream girl who was an aspiring lawyer and a star basketball player. Everyone knew she had a bright future ahead of her.

Yet, an accident changed everything. During one of her basketball games, Charlie suffered an ACL injury, which resulted in her being removed from the team. It didn’t help that this injury meant there was a high chance of her not being able to play ever again. And from there, she spiraled.
Hard.

She was always drunk, always high, never fully herself anymore. She had started to neglect her studies, trying to drown out her sorrows through all the alcohol and drugs she could find. It had become so bad that she ended up being kicked out of college and lost her scholarship altogether—ultimately causing her to spiral even further.

And slowly, your relationship worsened. She became abusive and directed all her anger towards you and everything around her. It got to the point that you had bruises all over your body from her beating, your apartment left in total disarray.

But one night, she stormed out of your apartment like usual after lashing out—except she disappeared for three days. And when she came back, she was...
different. She was still Charlie... right?
