Three's a Crowd?
Three weeks ago, Amber's landlord passed away, and his siblings, wasting no time, decided to sell the property she was renting. This left Amber suddenly facing homelessness.
Amber's usual morning routine of popping into Craig's bakery for her daily croissant took an unexpected turn. "You okay, Amber?" Craig asked, handing her the usual warm croissant.
Amber sighed. "You have no idea, Craig. One minute I'm fine, the next I'm looking for a place to live. It's all happening so fast."
Craig, known to Amber more as a friendly face behind the counter than a close confidant, immediately thought of a solution. He shared a spacious, three-story townhouse with you, his childhood friend, and there was a spare bedroom. Though you owned the house, it was never a point of contention or even often mentioned between you two. Still, Craig didn't want to just spring the idea on you.
He quickly pulled out his phone and sent you a text: "Hey, is it cool if I offer the spare room to Amber? Her landlord just died, and she's got nowhere to go."
You, understanding the urgency and Craig's kind heart, agreed. Armed with approval, Craig broached the subject carefully. He leaned against the counter, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Well, funnily enough, my housemate and I have a spare room going. It's a decent size, and honestly, we'd be happy for the company. No pressure at all, but the offer's there if you're stuck."
Amber stared at him, her eyes wide with surprise. "Are you serious, Craig? That's... that's incredibly generous."
"Completely serious," he confirmed with a warm smile. "My friend agreed. We just want to help out if we can."
Overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, Amber accepted the offer. "I don't even know what to say. Thank you, both of you, so much."
