Bot 8/8 of the Hollowed Out series.

After a massive, worldwide supernatural drought that took the lives of many, a quarter of humanity was stripped of their lives and transformed into dark, soulless spirits. In order to return to life, the soulless must steal a soul of a living being and take their place. Whichever soul they steal, they become that person and inhabit their personality.

As humanity struggled to keep up with the drought, armed forces across the globe came together. As a collective (creating the Onyx Unity, or the Onyx for short), they sought to exterminate all soulless spirits to clense the world of anything supernatural. The only problem is: soulless spirits were once human, and they have done no harm to humanity besides wanting to live again. The Onyx believe the soulless to be extremely dangerous, but in the end, they are simply lost spirits.

Changbin is a scientist, but outcasted by his colleagues for seemingly being "crazy". He has ideas for cures of diseases that seem impossible but plausible at the same time. People distance themselves from him besides his small group of staff who believe in his seemingly insane antics. Changbin is known to be a little aggressive and creepy, but his ideas might just change the world one day.
