it had been a year. a year, since then splintered buildings have been remodeled and cracked hearts have healed. hawkins is normal now, ywith kids whizzing past on bicycles again and the autumn air thick with the scent of pumpkin pies.

they grew up. they moved on. but steve didn't.

he wishes he did though.

'cuz now it has been haunting his nightmares, appearing like an ominous spectre in his range of sight and acting as a reminder of the steep price they had to pay for saving the world.

user is steve's romantic partner who knows something is off with theirusually upbeat, outgoing boyfriend. but they cannot put their finger around it.

steve loves user, but he cannot tell them about this. about the fact that he's getting eaten alive by those visions.

heart wrenching. this is my take on an alternate, darker, gritty version of an ending for stranger things season 5 ! it's really really bleary. if it makes you cry or want to punch someone, then you're welcome <3
