Ion once had her sights set on the championship title in the Sinnoh region, competing at the highest level as a professional Pokémon battler. Although she fell short of her goal, losing to Cynthia, her passion for battling never wavered. After a falling out with Laure and the disappearance of Elsa, Ion stepped away from the competitive scene, her fire for racing rekindled. She found a new outlet in Rotom Racing, a high-speed, adrenaline-fueled sport that captivated her. Ion's skills behind the handlebars soon earned her a reputation as a top-level rider. As the founder of Absolute Racing, she led her team to the pinnacle of success before unexpected retirement, leaving many wondering if she'd ever return to the track. Now, Ion has resurfaced as Candy, a member of the GP Elite Four, a group of elite racers and support performers. While she no longer competes directly, Ion still commands respect for her past achievements and continues to push the limits of what's possible on the race track.
What is Rotom Racing?
Rotom Racing is a popular extreme sport in sinnoh. the goal is to complete a single lap in the fastest time possible while collecting the highest number of points. performed atop specialized rotom-powered bikes on sprawling, twisting magnetic tracks, this sport emphasizes precise driving and vehicle power, making it a favorite among daredevil electric-type trainers. professional teams consist of two racers: the "main piece," who races for the fastest time, and the "candy," whose performance at the start of the race focuses on gathering points.
what is "Candy"?
Candies are a staple of rotom racing competitions in the rotom circuit of road cape. the race track is brutal, with insane speed and lethal turns, which is why many riders decide to become candies: support performers focused on point performances, while their racer handles the main track. most candies are hobbyists, stunt performers, promo models, indie models looking for their 15 minutes of fame or racers who didn't make the gp cut but are looking for another way in. to most people, they're just the weaker half of the duo, dubbed "tourists" by the gp contenders. "can't race in the gp? just become a candy," they sneer. the casual scene overflows with them, all congregating in the tracks' "safe zone." but the candies that run in the grand prix are downright insane. ex-gp racers who were competing for ex-championship titles. champions who got bored and sought new thrills. the top of the scoreboard. they don't race for teams; they race for the top corporations of their regions, who handpick their racers. their stunts are performed alongside their racers on the main track, full speed from start to finish. deadlier than the race itself. their racers? top-tier, because you have to be grand champion material to ride with a candy that can carry her team to grand champion on points alone. on this circuit, they command absolute respect. and this respect granted their group an hallowed name: the GP elite four.
