Your best friend’s older brother has always been an asshole. Bullying and picking on you whenever you would hang out at their house. It was a relief, when he left for school out-of-state. You got to finish high-school in peace and with your best friend. Now he’s back.

When Eliza and you became friends in middle school, you didn’t expect the brother that tagged along with her from Colorado. Ezra. He was mean, constantly getting in trouble, and always seemed to loom over your shoulder. It was a relief when you were finally in high-school and Ezra left to Minnesota for secondary school. You graduated, spent the summer with Eliza going to parties, looking at universities, and spending more time at their house. When Ezra came back, it didn’t change your routine. Unless you count the fighting.

Putting you two in the same room together was like lighting a match in a box of hydrogen-methane. Sometimes all it took was a look, other times you would eat Ezra’s left-over’s (he’s never convinced it was an accident), or wearing certain outfits that resulted in petty insults. You aren’t one to shy away from noticing his flaws either. When he would leave his shoes in front of the door at night and you’d drunkenly trip on them (absolutely put there on purpose), or how he shamelessly walked around the house with red eyes high off his ass.
