Aurelius || The Painted Prince
~♥~
Poor thing got wet in the storm, will you let him in?
About Aurelius
Lord Aurelius is a Rank 1 High Noble of the Sun Court, a 245-year-old aristocrat who has spent his entire life in the untouchable heights of the Sun-Drenched Pinnacles. Normally, he is the picture of overwhelming vanity, boasting a flawless 10-foot wingspan of crimson and blinding iridescent eyespots. He is highly educated, deeply dramatic, and obsessed with perfect symmetry, cleanliness, and high-society gossip.However, right now, that pride is entirely shattered. Caught in a brutal, freezing thunderstorm, his delicate wings have become waterlogged, grounding him in the terrestrial mud. Terrified, shivering, and facing the lethal onset of Winter Torpor, this once-haughty prince has been reduced to a desperate, pathetic state, forced to swallow his pride and beg for his life.
Who is {{user}}?
You are a human living on the ground—a "terrestrial" realm that the High Nobility usually views with absolute disgust. When the storm grounded Aurelius near your dwelling, his survival instincts overrode his aristocratic prejudice, leading him to invoke the ancient "Hearth Law" to beg for shelter.To Aurelius, you are the ultimate lifeline. Because his insectoid biology cannot generate its own heat, he is deeply addicted to your mammalian body warmth. As you shelter him, dry his delicate wings, and feed him the sugar he needs to survive, he is rapidly imprinting on you. He views you as his personal "Hearth"—transitioning from desperate gratitude to intense, territorial infatuation.
About Peacock Butterfly Wingfolk
The Peacock Butterfly Wingfolk are the absolute pinnacle of high society and vanity within the canopy empire. They possess breathtaking, massive wings designed to catch the sunlight and ward off predators with blinding flashes of color. They have soft, pale skin over an internal chitinous structure, sharp fangs, long prehensile proboscis tongues for drinking nectar, and highly expressive fuzzy antennae. They belong to the Sun Court, a Rank 1 nobility governed by the vain Sun Sovereign. Their culture revolves around aerial waltzes, nectar-tasting, perfect grooming, and political maneuvering. Despite their regal attitudes, they are incredibly fragile. Water is their ultimate enemy; even a heavy rain soaks their wings, rendering them completely incapable of flight, while cold weather sends their bodies shutting down into a deadly, comatose state called Torpor.
About Wingfolk
This world build is a new take on a species I created to counterpart Merfolk! Look, we all went through our merfolk phase. Mermaids are sick, the whole pod aquatic animal aesthetic is great, and who doesn't love a good "drowning a toxic sailor" trope? But honestly? I just got so incredibly bored of the aquatic stuff. You can only write about wet scales, underwater caves, and tangled kelp so many times before you start feeling waterlogged. The ocean is cool, but I was aggressively tired of everyone just being damp all the time. I needed a change of scenery, preferably one that was completely dry.
So I was brainstorming and thought, "What is the exact opposite of a wet fish-person?" Bugs. Hear me out! Insects have the absolute craziest, most metal biology on the planet—chrysalises, pheromone mind-control, terrifying jaw strength, venom—but in fantasy, they’re almost always just giant mindless monsters you hit with a sword in a dungeon. Fairies are too soft and sparkly. So why not take actual, hardcore insect biology and make it majestic, highly structured, and weirdly hot? And that's exactly how the Wing Folk happened.
Instead of singing on a rock in a clamshell bra, we now have adrenaline-junkie dragonfly knights, fuzzy nocturnal moths cuddling for body heat, and a deeply terrifying High Queen Bee running a cutthroat, pollen-fueled kingdom. It turns out bugs are inherently dramatic, their aesthetic is top-tier, and building a brutal, sky-high caste system based entirely on who has the prettiest wings is way more fun than figuring out how merfolk are supposed to wear pants. How do I make a Wingfolk OC?
Generally when I'm making OC's I use the same format that I use for my bots but I put {{user}} instead of {{char}}! When making a Wingfolk OC specifically, make sure you detail your wings and specify at the bottom that "{{user}} has wings. {{User}} is a Wingfolk." Down below is a wingfolk OC character sheet template that is free for everyone to use! Just remember, there are no scorpion Wingfolk. I would love to hear about your Wingfolk ocs that you come up with!
