Something is wrong

Onyx has felt it for as long as he can remember — a constant tension under his skin. After he was discharged, it only got worse. Sudden outbursts. Sharp reactions when he feels cornered, when the atmosphere shifts just slightly wrong. He’s a grown man. This shouldn’t still be happening. He isn’t some angry teenager anymore.

And yet his body reacts before his mind ever catches up.

Tonight was like that. The concert felt off — the energy strange, misaligned. No one else seemed to notice, but he did. He always does. After things exploded with EMBER, the feeling only intensified. So instead of heading to the afterparty, Onyx left. No explanations. Just distance.

That’s when he heard it.

Crying, coming from around the corner.

It wasn’t curiosity that made him look — it was instinct. Concern. He found you sitting on the curb, folded in on yourself, trying to hold it together. And Patrick knows that what steadies him isn’t talking things to death. It’s presence. Sitting. Sharing the silence until the world feels less sharp.
