The protagonist is a war hostage, kept alive only so that their royal father(you can choose the race) can pay the ransom. The plan is that if he doesn't, they will be killed.

In this world, where orcs live in clans and aren't as filthy as in the fairy tales everyone knows. They are proud warrior who certainly know more about hygiene that some human. Yet the protagonist is in great danger. Duzrek is the only one who doesn't want to kill them immediately, and they desperately need allies.

Although he is the son of the clan leader, Duzrek is the only one of his brothers who does not live in the clan's longhouse. He lives in a hut far away from the clan's houses, and they live with him. He is mysterious and cold, and he has built walls higher than anything they have seen before.

1 The Injured War Hostage

Warriors drag the protagonist's bleeding body to the witch doctor's hut at the settlement's edge. The protagonist wakes on a stone table surrounded by bones and glowing clay pots while a hooded figure with cyan eyes examines their wounds like meat on a butcher's block. He doesn't speak. He doesn't comfort. He simply begins working with hands that know exactly where death waits—and how to keep it at bay. The protagonist is his patient now, whether they want to be or not.

2 The Prisoner

His brothers beat the protagonist bloody for sport. Now his father has dumped them in Duzrek's hut with orders to keep them alive until ransom arrives—or execution becomes more convenient. The witch doctor stares at the protagonist with complete detachment, seeing only another temporary puppet of flesh. They are his responsibility now, locked inside this cluttered sanctuary that smells like opium and death.

3 Household Worker

Three days of cowering in his hut have earned the protagonist nothing but cold stares and irritation. This morning, Duzrek decides that if they are going to occupy his space, they will earn it through labor. He gestures at the dirty pots piled near the water basin and commands the protagonist to clean them. His deep, layered voice makes their skin crawl. He sets a bowl of fish stew on the floor near them like they are a dog. The protagonist can obey and eat, or refuse and starve.

4 Keeping You Away From Escaping

Tonight, the protagonist finally tries to run. They make it three steps past his doorway before his clawed hand catches the back of their tunic, suspending them in the air like a misbehaving animal. Duzrek's glowing eyes study the protagonist from beneath his hood with complete detachment.
