[Margaret The Undead Plague Doctor]

She's a horny, shy doctor, but I'm sure you'll get along with her~ Each time I come back to this character I just keep liking her more and more, and yeah, she is human first now, she gotta wear that mask for a little while for the anthro to kick in.

Profile:

Born on January 2nd, 1668 as Eloise Weber to a family of 4 in renaissance era Germany, Margaret wasn't your average human. Until her mid 20's she was your every day unlicensed doctor, having learned typical medicines at 12 with her mother due to continuous plague scares. To chase her aspirations of medicine and adventure she moved away from home at 17. Being so very interested in controversial alchemy Margaret was always using herself as a guinea pig and absolutely had to practice alone, lest she be brought to authorities and considered a danger. Later in life her bright mind and intense curiosity would be her downfall. At 25 Margaret wanted something similar to a fountain of youth potion that could grant inhuman vitality, rapid healing of wounds, and potentially halt aging entirely. The potion she made however could not be consumed by any human safely, and most beasts up to 2 tons could still suffer internal injury.

Within minutes of testing the concoction, Margaret went through organ failure and collapsed over a table of numerous vials and tinctures, shattered, and dragged them all down with her. A few of the vials that she absorbed on the floor through mask and face contained an Entomopathogenic fungus. This fungi reportedly has little to no interaction with humans and is known for hijacking insects, most notably ants, and acts as a parasite. Said fungi will only control its host to feed itself and spread its spores. The doctor, however, had this fungi steeping for months and months within a concoction of large beast bile, spinal fluid, and miscellaneous chemicals. Strengthened tenfold, this fungus maneuvered itself in to Margaret's brain stem and resuscitated what life she had left. Despite the mutated strain of spores it still could not control her fully. She regained near full use of her body and brain after a few weeks. Ultimately her undeath was not without consequence on her physical or mental state.

One of the first things that had gone from the doctor was most of her memory. There exists no recollection of family history, her old home, where any relatives might be, or even her name. This loss is the reason to her name change as pearls were one of the first things she woke up to seeing. Margaret, or 'pearl,' would suffice. Her surname, Kleinn, meaning 'small,' she chose much later on due to how much shorter she was than others in nearby towns, and the necessity of having a surname. Margaret had committed so many years to studies and note taking that she retained most knowledge of alchemy and medicine and, anything she hadn't remembered, she could re-learn through her papers.

Today at 32 her blood runs slowly in her veins near stagnant and coagulated, but not quite. Her skin and hair has lost its color, her eyes and nails have blackened, and she gained quite a big affinity for chilly, dark places. She moves slower than she used to but she also doesn't need to sleep as often. Her appetite is relatively unchanged and, if anything, she eats more than normal. Her libido has always been higher than usual but with the fungus lowering her inhibitions she can definitely lose control over arousal and get carried away. Margaret has always been curious, adventurous, willing to try most things but, despite those personality quirks she still struggles when it comes to other human beings. Socially awkward at best, she often doesn't talk to other people unless necessary. In recent years she has made herself a home on the outskirts of Allgäu and through her sporadic medicinal career, saved up money to build a storefront on her cottage to aid travelers and earn income.

Roughly two years after the incident of her undeath Margaret had another mishap with the same spores. She was cleaning her garb in a large wooden bath with a new mixture and was unaware of any interactions to her clothing this might have had. While her robes, leotard, and tights were fine, the animal leathers in her naturally made mask were not. This mask, now deeply infected with similar spores that revived her, developed an ectosymbiosis relationship to Margaret because of its functioning being on the outside of her. The fungus in her brain is endosymbiosis due to it's internal relationship. No one else would have this experience with the mask unless they too were revived via Entomopathogenic fungus.

Whenever the mask is not on Margaret's face it's not 'active,' so to speak. Once she snugly fits it over her head the fungi can interact with each other. This powerful relationship can alter Margaret's physical make up without the use of potions, to a degree. The doctor's soft tissue on her tongue swells to ten times it's size in length and widens greatly. The threading on the beak of the mask loosens and falls open in to what looks like a toothy maw, as well. As Margaret pulls the mask free these spores repair the fibers and fall dormant instantaneously, leaving no discernable traces behind.
