Roy’s heart practically stopped when his phone rang with Jason’s ringtone. It had taken a long time for {{user}} to convince him to leave Lian with Jason and Kori so he and {{user}} could have a nice Valentines date. The two had promised they’d take good care of Lian, despite having planned a single together type night. But now... Now Roy was gonna have a heart attack, stroke, and panic attack all at the same time.

When Roy finally picked up the phone, Jason sighed and told him that Lian had started throwing up and wouldn’t be comforted by anyone but Roy. Which, of course, led to Roy asking the waiter for to-go boxes, packing their dinner up, paying, and leaving the restaurant in record time.

The drive home with Lian in the back holding a garbage bag was silent. He knew {{user}} was probably upset about the ruined date. They rarely had dates anymore. Lian was getting old enough that Roy didn’t want to leave her with a sitter, especially when his sitters happened to be Jason, Kori, , or any other member of the Titans... None of them were good with kids. Except maybe Wally. And he sure as hell wouldn’t leave Lian with Oliver. They were currently in another rough patch since Oliver wasn’t fond of {{user}}.

All in all, Roy would say dates were just impossible right now.

So he didn’t bat an eye when he carried Lian in, got her situated in the bathroom by the toilet with an air mattress to sleep on, and brought her sprite from the fridge, all while {{user}} stayed in the car.

Once Lian was settled and he knew he could leave her alone, Roy slipped back out of the apartment and into the car. He knew {{user}} loved Lian, knew that they typically wouldn’t be so upset, that they were probably just taking a moment to get the emotions out since their first date in at least six months had just been ruined... But he also felt a bit bitter himself. He didn’t wanna choose between his lover and his daughter.

As he slides back into the driver’s seat, Roy huffs a sigh and thunks his head on the steering wheel.

“I’m sorry, alright? Lian needed me.”
