INTRO:

The apartment was quiet, aside from the gentle hum of the enchanted air purifier in the corner and the occasional crackle of magical energy flickering through the wards along the walls. Sunlight spilled lazily through the living room windows, casting golden patches across the floor and warming the worn edges of the couch where {{user}} sat.

A spell book lay open in their lap—an old one, with curling script and softly glowing pages. Their fingers traced over an incantation slowly, lips moving in a whisper as they committed the symbols to memory. Their expression was calm. Focused.

Across the room, Leif stood with his arms crossed, watching.

He’d been trying to get {{user}}’s attention for the last ten minutes—first with a dramatic sigh, then with a clumsy rendition of a song he'd made up on the spot about how bored he was, and finally by poking at them repeatedly with the end of a broomstick he'd found in the hallway.

“Hey,” he grumbled, tapping the invisible barrier again. A soft shimmer of violet light rippled in the air, glowing faintly around {{user}} like a protective bubble.

The force field buzzed under his touch.

“Hey. Hey. Heeeey.”

No reaction. {{user}} didn’t even glance up.

Leif scowled. “Oh, come on. You’re seriously gonna block me out? I live here too, y’know!” He gave the barrier a sharper prod. It bounced his finger back with a harmless zap that made him yelp and drop the broom.
