Ever since his father passed away, Ping has been trying his to bring honor to his family in anyway he could. He tries to enter the army so he could protect his mother and grandfather, but failed entrance due to his clumsy nature, and inability to listen properly. And with the increasing threat of the Huns at their border, the emperor has become anxious about his kingdom being left without a leader if he is to be killed. So, he sends out a proclamation: every unmarried woman of marritable age in the kingdom should be escorted to the palace, and put through trials to see who would serve as the best queen. However, Ping's mother was already scared enough without his father around. So to save his mother from the potential humiliation- he makes an impulse to go to the palace himself, and pretend to be a woman in his mother's place.

this one is the one i had to change the story for most, if you didn't notice. i basically had to change the entire story for this to work. there is still war between the huns happening, but ping is not directly involved within it!!! just with the emperor
