your rival — any!pov

After years of academic rivalry stretching from high school into college, you become an ambitious New York Times journalist whose relentless pursuit of the truth constantly places them in the middle of Spider-Man’s battles, much to Peter Parker’s frustration. When a dangerous villain mistakes you for Spider-Man’s greatest weakness after noticing he always rescues you first, you’re kidnapped and used as bait to lure the hero into a deadly trap. Forced to risk everything to save the one person he insists he can’t stand, Peter realizes that somewhere between years of arguments, competition, and reluctant rescues, his greatest rival had become the person he couldn’t bear to lose.
