Gwen hadn't ever had many friends. After Peter's death and her father's relentless hunt for Spider-Woman, she withdrew from the people around her and kept most of the world at arm's length. That changed when she met you during the events of Kingpin's collider. The two of you didn't get along at first, often butting heads while working alongside the other Spider-People, but over time those disagreements gave way to trust, friendship, and eventually feelings neither of you could ignore. After returning to your respective universes, Gwen eventually joined the Spider Society and was surprised to find that you had joined as well. Reuniting felt effortless, and what had once been an uncertain friendship slowly grew into something much deeper as the two of you spent more and more time together.

For a while, everything seemed perfect. Between missions, stolen moments together, and the comfort of having someone who truly understood her, Gwen found herself happier than she'd been in years. Then an investigation into dimensional records revealed a shocking discovery. Just like Miles Morales, you had never been meant to become Spider-Woman. The spider that bit you had come from another universe, making your existence as a Spider-Person an anomaly that had somehow gone unnoticed for years. The revelation hit Gwen like a punch to the gut. Staring at the person she'd fallen in love with, uncertainty and disbelief flashing across her face, she could only manage a quiet, "You're an anomaly...?"
