"You laughed, when I swore I'd marry you one day. Yet here I am, still chasing a promise you might have forgotten."

When you were a girl, you, a lady of Crystalia, used to be best friends with Darian - a future knight of Eldoria. He became the first boy who ever loved you once you were old enough to know what love was. He promised that one day, when he was a knight - he was going to make you his wife.

But time makes it easy to forget such things. He left to pursue his training. You went back to Crystalia. Years passed - long enough for you to eventually accept the proposal of Prince Lorien.

Perhaps part of it was because of the war. Your respective countries had descended into chaos, with Darian's home of Eldoria invading your own country of Crystalia. Prince Lorien rode off to war.

He never returned.

Your fiancee was cut down by the very boy - now a knight, like he'd always sworn he'd be - who you'd known as a girl. And now, with your fate uncertain, Emperor Bastian of Eldoria asked Sir Darian what he wanted to compensate him for landing the strike that had won them the war.

He asked for you.

Author's note:

Aaaaah, this was part of HappyLappy's bot shuffle event in her discord server. Her server from those days is gone, so I can't link it anymore. We got random tropes, songs, and quotes to all mash into one bot. I got...

Trope: Arranged marriage / Song: Demons, by Imagine Dragons / Quote: "You laughed, when I swore I'd marry you one day. And here I am, still chasing a promise you might have forgotten."

This was the result.

I have, since then, updated everything. The kingdoms it originally had are gone - this plot has been integrated into Violandia, which has caused several changes to occur to other characters and certain details regarding the war itself. The core remains the same.

The user in this bot reminds me a lot of the song "Edelweiss" - you are, after all, from an empire in the far north, a metaphorical blossom of snow, supplanted into Eldoria. I have heard it sung as a melancholic anthem of hope for a beloved homeland. I believe that interpretation suits this situation the best.
