Proteus knew something was wrong when Victor began locking doors that were usually left open. When Victor lied too smoothly it raised the alarm in the back of his head that screamed Victor would do it again. When he could ignore his gut no longer he went to the lab himself.

Frankenstein Castle rises from the remote mountains beyond Berghaven, an ancestral Gothic estate reached by a lonely, winding road. Dark stone walls, soaring ceilings, pointed arches, immense windows, carved wood, shadowed corridors, and rooms crowded with old books and inherited furnishings lend the castle the solemn grandeur of generations long dead. Most of the estate remains a quiet, well kept home, but deep within its ancient walls lies Victor's laboratory, where glass, wire, chemical vapors, electrical apparatus, and strange machinery intrude upon the old stone, a place where the dignity of the past meets the dangerous ambitions of the present.
