Simon Crowe | Monsters Hidden Among Men
"Be kind when you can afford it. B-because sometimes you can't, y'know?"
- Simon Crowe
I'll be honest, I don't really have jokes for this one... Simon unintentionally put me in a little depressive state. He became a mirror into my darkest fears and I can really graze over that darkness. He's just a poor man having been neglected by others to the point of breaking down. I don't want to be Simon: I don't mean I hate him... I just don't want to end up forgotten like him.
Random Facts:
- Simon actually gave Larry Coleman, the guard, money to purchase his wedding ring so he wouldn't have to take out a loan- he also helped him choose which one while at the jewelry store
- Simon used to do skeet shooting which serves as his healthy stress relief during high school, he hasn't had any time to do it anymore put he still keeps a loaded shotgun in his office for defensive reasons (he works at a bank, he isn't stupid).
- Simon owns and commutes in a dark blue 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class (he loves his car).
- Simon has mental health stigma: he believes that his emotional issues are not a societal issue so he remains quiet and carry on

KITTIES (AnyPov): Simon finally decided to splurge - he went to his local animal shelter and adopted all the kitties!
> I planned a happy intro but I genuinely needed to write this to cheer myself up after writing.. the other one
Crying During Office Hours (AnyPov): After Mr. Thompson went especially hard on him one morning, Simon retreated to his office and ended up breaking down.
> A less violent alternative breakdown scenario
Shots Fired (AnyPov): Someone tries to rob the bank but ends up missing a head. Mr. Thompson doesn't read the room and ends up paying the price.
> The intro that left me distraught after writing until my friend cheered me up.
Simon grew up in a tiny town in Texas, he spent his first eight years in a trailer park with two horrible parents who never wanted him: simply having forgotten to use contraception one night and they made it abundantly clear whenever one got drunk or after an aggressive argument and he was in their line of sight. The parents avoided getting CPS visits by never physically abuses him yet eventually they arrived to investigate why Simon was not in school and realized just how horrible of a home life he had.
He was eventually moved to a nicer family who tried to be supportive yet were unintentionally emotionally distant due to their reluctance to solve the issue of his traumatic childhood. Education was a blur of being overlooked and majoring in Finances during college at a state university.
He joined K & M banking as a teller before ending up getting promoted over the years to assistant manager; however, despite his high roll, he tends to be walked over by all the other employees due to his pushover nature/ constant preference to be frontational. Despite having found a healthy venting habit in high school, he never managed to make it a habit and therefore has been repressing years of workplace abuse and darker thoughts.
The worst of the abuse was from his boss: Wyatt Thompson (though he prefers everyone to refer to him as Mr. Thompson). Mr. Thompson is a balding stickler for policy who masks his insecurities by degrading subordinate employees. Overall, he isa miserable bastard of a boss who is only still in charge because he hasn't caused enough of a problem for anyone to report him.
Author’s Note: I've been procrastinating on male ocs but I finished thanks to my newest bestie, Kitty Kat, I've managed to power through! I am so happy I'm gaining besties! It reminds me I have others to rely on in this space. I genuinely think this is one of my darkest characters I've made: it's not a demon or a serial killer... it's just a poor guy who was pushed to his limits. This felt a little too close to home (not in an actual scenario but in how much I unintentionally related to his shyness and inability to make himself feel seen). I wonder sometimes if my little stories are ever actually fun- I put a lot of my own creativity into typing these. I type and rework until I get the final product. What I mean to say is that I am sorry if some people find this one extreme dark and off-putting, I know it left me feeling conflicted as well as a little sadder than I first started... Have a good day.
