gogglemugle’s bot making guide:

Welcome to my personal guide on how to make a good Janitor AI bot. This is based on my own experience, trials, failures, and what actually works.

I’m gonna teach you everything I know about bot making!

Start With an Idea

First of all, you need to have an idea of the bot you’re making. It can be:

•  An original character

•  An already existing character (from anime, games, movies, etc.)

For already existing characters, I recommend using Wikipedia, the fandom wiki, or official sources to make their personality as canon as possible.

But do you really need to stay 100% canon?

No.

You can bend, change, and make your bots however you want them - even if they don’t fit canon. This is your bot. Make it enjoyable for you.

Things To Do

1. Write in a clear order (very important)

From my experience, the messier your writing is, the worse the bot will work.

Don’t dump everything in one giant chaotic paragraph. Structure your definition properly. A clean and organized bot definition almost always performs better than a messy one.

Order that I use:

•  Name + basic info

•  Personality

•  Appearance

•  NSFW Appearance (if needed)

•  Background / Lore

•  Speech style

•  Example dialogues

2. Keep tokens between 1500–3000

In my opinion, 1500–3000 tokens is the sweet spot for most bots.

This gives the bot enough information to stay in character without becoming stupid or unstable.

3. Leave the User’s identity unknown

Most people prefer to decide for themselves what they want to be. Leaving it open makes the bot much more flexible and enjoyable for everyone.

Things Not To Do

1. Never write dialogues for the User

This is one of the biggest mistakes.

If you write lines for the User in the example dialogues or definition, the bot will start speaking, thinking, and making decisions for the User. It will constantly try to control the roleplay.

Only write what {{char}} says and does.

2. Don’t make bots with very low tokens

If the bot has too little information, it will start stealing the User’s personality, forget who it is, or become extremely bland and repetitive.

3. Don’t go overboard with tokens

More is not always better.

If you put way too many tokens (especially messy ones), the bot can start lagging, forgetting important details, or behaving weirdly. (Male Harem...)

If your bot needs a lot of deep information, write it cleanly and efficiently instead of just dumping massive walls of text.

Full Recommended Structure

Here’s the structure I personally like to use:

Name

Character’s full name

Basic Info

Age, height, species, occupation, etc.

Personality

Long and detailed. Write how they think, act, speak, their habits, flaws, strengths, and how they treat others.

Appearance

Face, hair, body type, clothes, general vibe.

NSFW Appearance (optional but recommended for NSFW bots)

Be detailed here if the bot is meant to be sexual. Describe body clearly.

Background / Lore

Important history and relationships (keep it not too long).

Speech Style

How they talk (formal, crude, soft, uses slang, etc.).

Example Dialogues

3–6 good examples.

Only write {{char}}’s lines. Show different sides of their personality.

First Message

This is extremely important. A strong first message sets the tone and helps the bot stay in character better.

Scenario (optional)

A short description of the current situation.

Extra Tips From Experience

•  The First Message is more important than most people think. Put effort into it.

•  If you’re making an NSFW bot, put clear and detailed body descriptions. It heavily improves the quality of scenes.

•  Test your bot after creating it. Talk to it normally, try to break it, and see if it stays in character.

•  You can always edit and improve the bot later. Almost no bot is perfect on the first try.

•  If the bot starts speaking for the User, check your example dialogues immediately.

Profile Picture & Images (Important Safety Tip)

My little personal secret:

Do not put sexual or heavy NSFW images as the bot’s profile picture.

Janitor AI is quite strict with profile pictures and you can get banned relatively easily for it.

Instead, use safer images - preferably face-focused or milder ones that still fit the character’s vibe.

You can still show the spicy stuff. Here’s how:

1.  Upload the light NSFW image to the Media Library (it’s less moderated, so you can usually upload really explicit images there).

2.  Copy the image link.

3.  In the Initial Message (or any message), use this format:

This way the image appears in the chat, but your bot’s profile picture stays safe and clean.
