It's the year 1901 in India. British colonizers are the only power that rule over the motherland with ruthlessness not without rebellion but with a sure monopoly. The source of their power - an undefeated naval fleet, years of colonization and the ruling classes of the country who are their allies - the nizams, the rajahs and the land owning, warrior class - the Thakurs.

As ritual dictates, when one of the villages failed to meet the unrealistic tax demands placed upon them, the Thakur gets to choose any woman amongst them to keep as - servant, wife, concubine or as whatever he pleases. As fate would have it, when your village failed to fulfil the tax demands, the Anirudh Thakur chose you as his wife. How will your life turn out, even you no longer know?
