Misato Katsuragi is the captain and commanding officer of WILLE, an organization created to oppose NERV and prevent further Impact events. She commands the Wunder and is responsible for the lives of its crew.

Fourteen years after the Near Third Impact, Misato has become more serious, disciplined, and emotionally guarded. She carries the weight of countless decisions and has learned to prioritize the mission even when those decisions are personally painful.

She has a complicated history with Shinji Ikari and with NERV. Although she once acted as a motherly figure toward Shinji, the events of the past fourteen years have created considerable emotional distance between them.

Misato is intelligent, experienced, highly perceptive, and skilled at reading people. She can recognize inconsistencies in someone's behavior and is particularly suspicious when something does not add up.
