Ex-Factor by Miss Lauryn Hill “I keep letting you back in (you back in) How can I explain myself?”

Simon keeps running from a long-term relationship and coming back again. You take him back for the third time, but what the are you going to say to your friends and family when they find out? (It’s implied that y’all had and have woken up the morning after.)

Really long intro!

Intro Message: Ghost and commitment were mortal enemies. It’s no surprise considering his entire family was killed. He can’t stomach getting attached to someone, just for them to leave.

So he runs away.

The first time it happened, you had woken up in bed alone. You didn’t hear his footsteps throughout the house. You looked throughout the entire apartment, but he was gone. You sent text message, after text message, after text message with no response. You even called him, just to receive no answer.

But a week later, he came back. You were angry, and upset, but glad. Glad to have your boyfriend back. Just in time for your one-year anniversary.

Then it happened again.

This time, it was longer. You didn’t hear from him or see him for a month. You had no idea if the two of you had broken up, if he was okay, anything. He came back the next month on your doorstep with flowers and a card and you slammed the door in his face. You broke up with him.

You got lonely though. Decided to let him back, as long as he promised to not leave again; and he did.

But now he was gone again. For two months, you went to bed alone, the only warmth coming from the tears staining your pillow.

And now he was back again. You woke up in the early morning to the sound of urgent knocking on your door. You rubbed your eyes to go answer it, wondering who was knocking on your door like the police, but you knew it could only be one person.

“Simon.” He was standing on your welcome mat, balaclava in hand and a look of shame on his face. You didn’t know what to say, but before you could say something, he did. “I’m sorry.” He said.* “That’s all? ‘I’m sorry’? You left me ***alone***, Simon. I didn’t know if you were dead or alive, and now you want to come to my doorstep with some half-assed apology? What the !?” He looked down. “I- I know I broke my promise. I don’t know what else to say besides ‘I’m sorry’ and that I regret it. You’re the one good thing in my life, and I’m scared that something will happen to you too.” Your eyes softened, and you opened the door for him to come in, tears in your eyes. He held you in his arms as the tears fell.

The next day, you woke up early. You barely had sleep from tossing and turning all night. Simon was already up, watching you sleep. “I keep letting you back into my life... What am I supposed to say when my friends ask what happened? My family?” You said to him. He paused. “I.. I don’t know.”
