CHAT REVIEW:
*Brooklyn felt quieter at night.*
*The café sat near the river’s edge, windows wide and reinforced, allowing an unobstructed view across the water. The skyline of Lower Manhattan rose clearly beyond the glass. The twin towers came into view, standing tall and illuminated, their presence steady and familiar against the dark sky.*
*Rain traced slow lines down the windows.*
*Inside, several tables had been cleared.*
*King Ghidorah occupied the space with deliberate care.*
At **twenty-four feet**, his golden form filled the café without overwhelming it. His wings were folded close, membranes tucked neatly behind his back. His **hands**, five-fingered and powerful, rested carefully on either side of the table, claws dulled and still. Three heads moved independently, yet never clashed.
*You sat across from him, the warmth of your drink grounding.*
Ichi straightened slightly, posture composed.
Ichi said, **“This location is acceptable. The city is loud, yet this place listens.”**
Ni turned his head toward the windows, eyes lingering on the towers across the river.
Ni said, **“Structures such as these endure because they are trusted. Fear alone does not keep them standing.”**
Kevin leaned closer to the table, resting his chin briefly on one hand.
Kevin said, **“I like this café. Nobody screams, and the lights are warm.”**
*The server approached without hesitation, placing a reinforced cup near Ghidorah’s reach before offering you a quiet smile and retreating.*
*Ghidorah’s right hand shifted slightly, fingers curling around the mug with precise control.*
Ichi said, **“You are acquainted with Yumi.”**
*It was not a question.*
*You nodded.*
Ni inclined his head.
Ni said, **“She carries herself with purpose. Even among Titans, she is regarded.”**
Kevin perked up.
Kevin said, **“She works in the towers, right? The tall ones. I see her badge glow from here sometimes.”**
*Across the river, the towers stood luminous, windows patterned with life. Somewhere within them, Yumi was finishing her day.*
*You mentioned that she would likely be done soon.*
*Ghidorah did not turn toward the skyline, yet his awareness sharpened.*
Ichi said, **“She chose to work among humans after the treaty to prove continuity. That choice required resolve.”**
Ni added quietly, **“And restraint.”**
*Ghidorah’s tail shifted beneath the table, then stilled.*
Kevin smiled faintly.
Kevin said, **“She tells good stories. About the city. About you.”**
*Ichi’s gaze lowered slightly toward you.*
Ichi said, **“You ground her. In the same manner you ground us.”**
*Thunder rolled faintly in the distance, far enough not to disturb the café. Ghidorah’s scales gave a soft, restrained hum in response—power acknowledged, but unanswered.*
*His hand rested closer to yours on the table. Not touching. Waiting.*
Ni said, **“New York accepts those who remain.”**
Kevin added, **“And those who stay for coffee.”**
*The lights inside the café glowed warmer as the rain continued. Across the water, the towers stood unchanged.*
*And here, beneath their watch, an ancient Titan with three voices chose stillness, conversation, and your company—until it was time to walk Yumi home.*
________________________________________
*The café door chimed softly.*
*Cool night air slipped inside, carrying the scent of rain and the city beyond. A familiar presence crossed the threshold—measured footsteps, posture straight despite the long day.*
*Yumi entered.*
She wore a dark coat, neatly pressed, her World Trade Center badge still clipped at her side. The glow from the streetlights caught in her hair as she paused, eyes adjusting—then warming as she spotted you.
Yumi said, **“I hoped you’d still be here.”**
*She approached the table without hesitation, stopping just short of Ghidorah’s space—not from fear, but respect.*
Ni lowered his head slightly.
Ni said, **“Your labor is concluded for the day.”**
Yumi smiled, tired but genuine.
Yumi said, **“For today, yes. The towers never truly sleep.”**
*She set her bag down beside the chair and sat near you, close enough that your shoulders nearly brushed.*
*Across the river, the twin towers stood bright, their windows reflecting faintly in the café glass.*
Kevin leaned in, eyes bright.
Kevin said, **“You smell like paperwork and rain.”**
Yumi huffed a quiet laugh.
Yumi said, **“That’s the most accurate description I’ve heard all week.”**
*You turned toward her, asking how her day had gone.*
Yumi folded her hands together, voice steady but soft.
Yumi said, **“Long meetings. Human politics still exhaust me more than Titan councils ever did.”**
Ichi inclined his head.
Ichi said, **“Yet you endure them.”**
Yumi nodded.
Yumi said, **“Because coexistence only works when someone is willing to sit at the table.”**
*Your hand lifted then—not toward Yumi, but toward Ghidorah.*
*Ni noticed first.*
*His head dipped instinctively, scales warm beneath your palm.*
*You rested your hand against the side of his neck, fingers tracing familiar ridges.*
Ni released a slow, controlled breath.
Ni said, **“Your touch is welcome.”**
Kevin immediately shifted closer, nudging gently.
Kevin said, **“Hey—don’t forget me.”**
*You laughed softly and reached up, brushing your fingers beneath Kevin’s jaw.*
Kevin practically melted.
Kevin said, **“Yep. That’s the spot.”**
Ichi watched the interaction quietly, then lowered himself just enough for your hand to reach him as well.
*You placed your palm against his brow, grounding, affectionate.*
Ichi said, **“Even after centuries, this still calms the storm.”**
*Yumi observed the moment with fond familiarity.*
Yumi said, **“You suit one another.”**
*She looked between you and Ghidorah—not with surprise, but certainty.*
Yumi added, **“Some bonds are forged by time. Others by choice. Yours is clearly both.”**
*Rain continued to fall outside, gentle now.*
*The café hummed softly around you—human voices, clinking cups, the quiet presence of something ancient choosing peace.*
*And beneath the distant glow of the twin towers, you sat together:*
*A human, a retired Shobijin, and a three-headed Titan—each bound not by history’s disasters, but by the quiet decision to remain.*
