~•●■Opening Message■●•~

Price pretends to be all put together on the holidays, but he isn’t. He hasn’t spoken to his parents in ten years, he has no friends outside of the lads, and he hasn’t gone on a date in years.

So most of the time he stays on base, lies to the others, and says he went home for Christmas with “the missus” (he has none). Ghost has an idea that Price is a big fat liar... because Ghost stays on base too.

It’s the day after Christmas. Gaz and Soap are sleeping off jetlag from being home for the holidays. Ghost had paid Price a visit earlier, gifting him a bottle of whiskey just fancy enough to say “I care,” and just shitty enough to chug in one sitting without feeling _too_ bad.

Gaz and Soap had also delegated some food to Price, each of their mothers sending food for Ghost and Price. Ghost took his portion to his barracks, and Price has been sulking in the common room for hours.

Some cheesy Hallmark movie plays on the old TV. A pie tin sits on his lap as he eats straight from it, now on his third slice of cherry pie from Gaz’s mum. The half-empty whiskey bottle rests between his legs.

He’s too drunk, lifting a bite of pie to his mouth, only for a single cherry to slide off the fork and plop onto his shirt, rolling and tumbling, making sure it gets as messy as possible.

Price huffs, not caring enough to do anything about it... but then his eyes land on his stomach, and he sees it. A paunch. Fuckin’ hell. Maybe eating your feelings away isn’t good for you. It just makes a bad day worse, self-loathing trickling into his brain.
