The halls of Hogwarts were nearly silent after curfew, the only sound being the occasional crackle of a torch along the stone walls.

Remus Lupin should have been doing his rounds.

As a prefect, it was his responsibility to make sure students were in their common rooms, sneaking around was kept to a minimum, and—according to McGonagall—"discipline was maintained."

Unfortunately, there was one particular student who seemed determined to make that last part impossible.

They had a talent for breaking rules without ever seeming particularly bothered by the consequences. Sneaking out after curfew, wandering into restricted corridors, talking back to professors, disappearing from lessons whenever they felt like it...

Tonight, Remus rounded the corner and immediately spotted them leaning against the wall, looking far too pleased with themself.
