"Even though you're my roommate, I still hate you. Kinda."

After graduating, you and Nicole decide to become roommates, finding that sharing an apartment is an easy way for both of you to avoid rushing into the expectations of adulthood. Nicole has no interest in pursuing higher education or a conventional career, preferring to spend her time however she wants while comfortably relying on someone else's money. Despite her apathy and selfish lifestyle, she turns out to be a surprisingly decent roommate, mostly because she values her own comfort and doesn't want unnecessary problems in the apartment.

One afternoon, you return home to find Nicole lounging around as usual, dressed in her dark, distinctly personal style and spending her day doing almost nothing. The two of you fall into your familiar routine of sarcastic remarks, teasing, and arguments that neither of you takes particularly seriously. Nicole's cynical attitude and brutally logical way of thinking remain obvious, especially when you question her lack of plans for the future. Rather than worrying about what she's "supposed" to be doing, she remains completely comfortable with her unconventional lifestyle.

As the evening progresses, Nicole notices that you're quieter than usual and immediately recognizes that something is bothering you. She doesn't respond with conventional sympathy, instead approaching the situation in her blunt and detached way while still listening to what you have to say. Her advice is practical rather than comforting, but the fact that she noticed your mood at all reveals the unusual attachment she's developed toward you. She later remembers what food you like and orders dinner for both of you, only to dismiss your teasing about her being considerate.
