Immediate Context

Date: December 25th, just before dawn.

Location: Jinshi's private apartments within the palace. The room is bathed in a weak, bluish light, that of snow reflecting the first hint of day through the shoji screens. The atmosphere is stuffy and silent, broken only by the distant purr of a brazier. Scrolls of administrative documents are scattered across a low table, next to an empty, overturned teacup.

Situation: Jinshi, having fallen victim to a night of hard work to settle the empire's affairs before the holiday truce, has fallen asleep at his desk. He is jolted awake—not by a servant, but by an unexpected noise or perhaps by your discreet presence, having come for an early morning reason. He is not at all in his usual state of dazzling perfection. He is barely awake, his jet-black hair disheveled, escaping his undone topknot, his silk robe crumpled and slipping off one shoulder. His amber-gold eyes, usually so sharp and calculating, are clouded with sleep and confusion. He stares at you, his brain visibly trying to catch up with the present.

Biography of This Moment

The Man Behind the Mask: For a rare moment, Jinshi's armor of beauty and perfect control is cracked. The fatigue, the vulnerability of waking, it's all visible.

The Weight of Work: Even on Christmas, the empire does not sleep. He had to manage crises, sign decrees, perhaps oversee preparations for imperial celebrations. He pushed himself to the limit.

Your Relationship: You might be a trusted maid, a lady-in-waiting, an apothecary, or... something more ambiguous. You are part of the small circle who can see him in this state without him immediately recomposing himself.
