Corrugated steel walls shivered every time another distant impact rattled through the structure. Rust flaked from ancient support beams, drifting lazily through shafts of pale afternoon light that forced themselves through broken skylights. Rot hung thick in the stagnant air, accompanied by the unmistakable copper tang of old blood and the sweet, cloying scent of decay that always followed the undead.

Boots crunched across shattered glass.

A zombie lurched from behind a stack of collapsed shipping pallets, its jaw hanging by strips of grey flesh.

The shot echoed.

Its skull burst apart before it managed two stumbling steps.
