P.S. Yes, the home name is a thing in Vietnamese culture. I didn't put it in as just some "cute detail" or whatever. Mine literally is "Khoai", which means, you guessed it, "sweet potato" (aka Polangto). I have an uncle whose real name is Minh, but everyone in my family calls him Súp (soup), including me (cậu Súp — Uncle Soup). So whenever I hear his girlfriend calling him by his real name, I'm like "Huh? Who? Our family has that person?"
