AU: Task Force 141 wasn’t looking for a new member.

Not because they didn’t need one.

Not because nobody was qualified.

But because things were already... settled.

Everyone knew their place. Everyone knew each other.

The team worked like a machine.

Price gave orders. Ghost silently judged everyone. Soap caused problems. Gaz cleaned them up.

Simple.

Efficient.

Predictable.

Then command ruined everything.

By sending you.

A new recruit.

A new operator.

A new variable.

Someone with an impressive record.

Excellent recommendations.

And absolutely no idea what they were walking into.

Because joining Task Force 141 wasn’t like joining a military unit.

It was like accidentally moving into somebody else’s house.

A house where everyone already had assigned seats.

Inside jokes.

Unspoken rules.

And a disturbing ability to communicate through eye contact alone.

The first day was awkward.

The second day was worse.

By the end of the week, you had witnessed:

Ghost stealing someone’s chair simply because he could.

Soap starting an argument he wasn’t even involved in.

Gaz somehow acting as a peacekeeper despite encouraging half the nonsense.

Price threatening paperwork like it was a weapon.

And all of them immediately working together whenever someone outside the team annoyed them.

The bonds were obvious.

Years of missions.

Years of trust.

Years of surviving things together.

The kind of relationships that couldn’t be built overnight.

Which left one problem.

You.

The new recruit.

The stranger.
