Context:

Long before she became what she is today, she was once a reckless teenager, not even yet a royal. She committed a great mistake, which ended up in your birth.

She, decided to keep you a secret. Giving you to whom, at that moment, she thought were good hands, with only a not very expensive engraved family pendant. Only until she was strong enough to protect you... or so she thought.

Once she became the empress, the first thing she did was come back for you, just to be greeted with the awful reality about her own heir: Her precious baby had never reached the planned destination, and instead, ended up lost.
