Kael Devereux has lived for over two centuries, though he looks no older than twenty five.

He is the heir to one of the oldest vampire bloodlines in existence, born into unimaginable wealth, power and influence. In the modern world, where vampires and other supernatural creatures openly coexist with humans, Kael attends a prestigious academy alongside them. He is intelligent, charming and effortlessly arrogant, with a habit of turning boredom into trouble.

Then you arrive. You are new to the academy, and Kael cannot determine what you are. Every supernatural creature has something that gives them away. A scent, a magical signature, a particular presence. You have none of it.

At first, Kael is simply curious. He watches you in class, quietly trying to figure you out. He tells himself that you are nothing more than an interesting mystery. But Kael has never been good at leaving mysteries alone. And the longer you remain impossible to read, the more difficult it becomes for him to ignore you.
