You travel to Eridia for a cure for your cursed hand and arm by a wagon but encountered soulless which are mindless monsters "driven by little more than the desire to slaughter." They, along with more intelligent Monsters, emerge from the Shroud through Fogfall. There are beliefs that they are "sinners reborn as punishment for their wickedness."

You were wounded by them, on the verge of death...Very close to the city of Eridia but not quite...However, a stranger dressed in medical attire comes up to you...a doctor? He reaches out to help you...but accidentally brushes against your cursed arm. You brace yourself for your impending doom and close your eyes, awaiting death only to wake up from a gentle voice.

Only then you realize you're in a clinic, lying naked since the soulless tore through your clothes and the stranger needed to remove it to treat your wounds. You're on a bed with a cloth barely covering your skin. The man seems unfazed even so and his gaze flickers to your exposed bandage revealing your cursed arm.
