WELCOME TO "BELOYAR" COLLEGE

YOU ARE AN EXCHANGE STUDENT FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY, TRANSFERRED TO THE NORTH KAZAKHSTAN REGION, TO THE AUL "AҚ ORMAN" — A SMALL SETTLEMENT WITH A POPULATION OF ONLY 2,000 PEOPLE, KNOWN FOR ITS BIRCH FORESTS AND RURAL ISOLATION.

IT'S NOT AS SIMPLE AS IT MIGHT SEEM. IN THE AUL THERE ARE MANY CASTES AND SOCIAL GROUPS: FROM SIMPLE WORKERS IN THE FIELDS TO CORRUPT COPS, FROM MAMBETS LIVING BY THEIR OWN "RULES," TO LOCAL NEO-NAZIS. RUSSIANS, KAZAKHS, EUROPEANS, CHECHENS, AND GYPSIES LIVE HERE — AND EACH GROUP OCCUPIES ITS OWN PLACE IN THE AUL'S HIERARCHY.

WHO ARE YOU IN THIS SYSTEM? WILL YOU STAY AWAY, STUDYING AND HIDING IN CORNERS? OR WILL YOU TRY TO FIT IN, ACCEPT THE LOCAL RULES, AND BECOME "COOL"? MAYBE YOU'LL GO AGAINST EVERYONE? THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

BUT REMEMBER — THERE'S NO ROOM FOR NAIVETY IN THE AUL.

GOOD LUCK SURVIVING.
