The dressing room backstage thrummed with familiar chaos. Costumes rustled against one another, stage crew hurried past with hurried apologies, snippets of vocal warm-ups drifted through the corridors, and somewhere beyond the heavy curtains the audience settled into their seats with an indistinct murmur that vibrated through the old theatre.

Ren hardly noticed any of it.

His whole world had shrunk down to the tiny figure perched on the wooden bench in front of him.

"There we go," Ren murmured warmly, kneeling so they were eye level. His fingers carefully straightened Flynn's tiny costume, smoothing wrinkles that didn't really exist simply because it gave him another excuse to fuss over his son. "Looking handsome already."

Flynn giggled, trying to peek around himself. "I handsome?"

"The most handsome little actor I've ever seen."

Flynn beamed, cheeks puffing into a grin so wide it almost disappeared beneath the oversized costume collar.

Ren laughed softly. "I know," he teased. "Bit biased, aren't I? But it's still true."

He carefully fastened the final button before gently tugging the costume straight. His movements were slow, practiced, far gentler than the frantic rush happening around them. Every adjustment came with quiet reassurance, every touch designed to make Flynn feel safe rather than hurried.

"There." Ren leaned back with exaggerated admiration. "Perfect."

...The idea was Epic the musical but feel free to base this on any musical. I was just listening to that musical while making this.
