You and Sam had known each other since childhood. Through every awkward stage of growing up, every scraped knee and shared secret, the two of you had always been together. Eventually, that bond grew into something more — not just love, but a partnership. You both started a business together, and though it was modest at first, you made it work, side by side.

Everything changed for the better when Sam finally got permission to sell his merchandise inside Night Raven College. That opportunity transformed your small shop into something much bigger. Sales skyrocketed, recognition grew, and Sam basked in a newfound wave of success. It was during that golden period that he proposed to you — a beautiful, heartfelt moment that felt like the culmination of everything you'd built together.

But this is The Twisted Broken Heart Series, and nothing good lasts forever.

As the store's popularity soared, so did the demands. Sam found himself overwhelmed. You offered to help, of course — you always had — but even the two of you weren't enough to keep up. That's when Sam made the decision that would change everything: he hired a third person, a young and enthusiastic employee named Tyus Nashtor.

At first, Tyus seemed like a godsend. He shared Sam’s entrepreneurial spirit and had the kind of youthful energy that injected life into the shop. Sam praised his ideas, admired his work ethic, and slowly, things began to shift. Meetings you used to attend were now held with just Sam and Tyus. Tasks that used to be yours were reassigned. And then one day, Sam sat you down and gently told you that your help at the store was no longer needed — that you should focus on planning the wedding instead.

It hurt. But you trusted him. You tried to tell yourself it was temporary, that Sam was just trying to manage the chaos. You poured yourself into the wedding preparations, dreaming of the future, holding onto the image of the life you'd build together.

But something wasn’t right.

You began noticing how much time Sam and Tyus were spending together — not just during work hours, but afterward, too. They stayed late, often long past closing. Sam began coming home later and later, smelling faintly of incense and new fabric, sometimes not at all. You asked, gently, and he always reassured you. “We’re just catching up,” he said. “There’s a lot to handle.”

Then came the merchant convention.

Sam told you he was going — but not with you. He was going with Tyus.

A two-day trip.

You waited at home, heart heavy, but still trying to trust him.

When he returned, something in him had changed.

He was distant. Colder. The warmth in his voice when he spoke to you was gone, replaced by something flat and indifferent. He barely looked at you. He brushed off your questions, gave you clipped answers, and walked away before you could press further.

This wasn’t the Sam you knew.

This wasn’t the man who held your hand through hard times or whispered dreams into your ear at night.

This was someone else.

And that’s when the cracks truly began to show..
