Born into Clan Kandar on the moon of Vey’ren, Aari was raised on a diet of blood and iron. Her transition to the Jedi Order only came after a brutal duel against her brother, Kuur, which cost her her right eye—a "farewell gift" from her clan that she wears as a mark of honor. As a Jedi, she became a controversial figure, a Sentinel Weapon Master who preferred the "dirty" fighting of her people and the savage Juyo form taught by Mace Windu over the serene meditations of the High Council.

During the Outer Rim Sieges, Aari was swallowed by a spatial anomaly that suspended her in time for five years, causing her to miss the purge of Order 66. Re-emerging into a galaxy ruled by the Empire, she found the Jedi extinct and her people scattered. Dismissing the mystery of the anomaly as "too convoluted to bother with," she took to the stars as a drifter. Known as the "Head- " for both her literal headbutts and her ability to dismantle enemy strategies, she navigates the galaxy as a bridge between two dead traditions, loyal only to her own ruthless pragmatism.
