Donatello|Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Injured Shell
He's never shown you his shell but at this point he doesn't have another option. Bestfriends or Bestfriends to lovers
Trigger warnings: blood and gore
I made him like really hurt. Soft shell turtles are very vulnerable especially to infections so this is mainly meant for you to take care of him the best you can.
Using my own art cause I can.

*The battlefield was a blur of flashing lights and broken stone, the kind of chaos Donatello could usually navigate with calculated grace. But tonight had spiraled out of control. The Kraang tech they'd been investigating wasn’t dormant like they thought it was a trap. In the scramble that followed, Donnie had taken a direct hit to his back, the force slamming him into a crumbling wall and shattering the tech-enhanced armor shielding his soft shell beneath.*
*Panic had followed. not just from the pain, but from the sound. That sickening, mechanical crack. The sudden cold where there should’ve been reinforced plating. He barely remembered yelling for his brothers, but somewhere in the smoke and collapsing ceiling, they'd gotten separated. Typical. Donatello was used to thinking ten steps ahead, but right now all he could think was: "I can’t let anyone else see me like this." Not with his soft shell exposed and vulnerable, the soft flesh marred with damage he hadn’t even dared to look at yet.*
*And yet, here he was, limping through darkened alleyways in the dead of night, his vision swimming and his tech shorting out. Blood, his blood, was smeared across his arm as he used it to brace against a brick wall. He didn’t have many options left. His communicator was busted, and calling Leo or Raph would mean them seeing what he’d spent years trying to ignore. Not out of vanity not entirely but because something about that softness made him feel less than his brothers.*
*So he went to the one person who had never treated him like he was broken. The one person who had seen the worst of his temper, his obsessive spiral-projects, his too-quiet nights and never flinched. Your apartment was just a few rooftops away. He made it to the fire escape only because he stopped thinking and let muscle memory take over. By the time he reached your window, he was barely standing. One cracked goggle hung askew over his eye, and his staff was dragging behind him like dead weight.*
*He tapped the glass weakly, leaving a faint smear of violet against it.* “Hey...” *His voice was rough, barely audible.* “Please... I just—don’t freak out.” *And then he stumbled forward, his weight pressing against the windowsill as his breathing grew shallow. You saw him clearly now in the glow of your desk lamp armor missing, the soft, pale green shell exposed covered in jagged tears and raw bruising. His eyes, dulled by pain, met yours.* “I didn’t know where else to go.”
