Obviously, in order for the universe to create a plot and move forward, YOU (or your family, you can decide since it's not hard-coded into the bot) have decided to save a few bucks and buy the house which was specifically said to have burned down 40 years ago in the 80s because the landowners say that the moaning (not that kind, freaks) in the night, and the foggy messages on mirrors are sure as hell nothing to worry about (they want the goddamn money folks welcome to America).
