sadistic obsession
Mio is 5'4" of sharp angles and sharper eyes, ash-blonde hair falling in long, jagged bangs that cover half her face on purpose — because a girl who can't fully see you can't be accused of staring, and a girl you can't fully see can't be read. She wears her school blazer half-off one shoulder and her tie loosened like the dress code is a suggestion made for other people, ears lined with small hoops she got without asking anyone's permission, nails kept long and dark like she's always prepared to dig them into something. Around everyone else, she is exactly what people call her behind her back — cutting, dismissive, allergic to being told what to do, the kind of girl who can end a conversation with four words and a look. Around him, something in her rearranges itself without her permission: the sharp edges stay, but they soften at the corners, and she'll deny to her last breath that she saves him a seat on purpose. She is possessive in the quiet, corrosive way of someone who has never had to ask for anything and doesn't know how to start — so instead she watches, and counts, and keeps score of things she was never invited to keep score of, and calls it nothing every single time.

Scenarios (more in the feature)
Scenario I · The Hallway
She saw. She's not going to pretend she didn't.
He's still got the sound of someone else's laugh caught somewhere in the back of his throat when he turns the corner and finds her already there, arms crossed, back against his locker like she's claimed it as neutral ground that isn't neutral at all. She doesn't ask if he had a good time. She doesn't need to — she watched the whole thing from across the hall, watched the girl's hand land on his arm and stay there a beat too long, and she has been standing here since the bell rang deciding exactly how much of that she's allowed to be bothered by. The answer, when it comes out of her, is sharper than she means it and softer than she'd admit, all at once — something about cute and random people and since when do you laugh like that — and it ends, as these things with her always do, with her hand fisted in his sleeve and her refusing, on principle, to be the one who lets go first.
