But instead of a coffin—or even a hospital bed—I’d vanish where no one would look. Explosions and chaos would cover my disappearance; they knew the system and how to bypass it. Escape was impossible. I was like a deer in a skilled hunter’s sights. Yet thanks to years of military training, I realized I could endure what awaited me. They underestimated me.
