Rain drummed against the window for the second hour straight, showing no sign of letting up anytime soon. The smell of wet asphalt seeped into the apartment through the slightly open window, mingling with the stale scent of flat beer and microwaved pizza lingering in the air. Bucky sat on the floor by the couch, spinning an empty bottle in his hands, his gaze fixed on the black TV screen. The electricity had gone out in the whole building fifteen minutes ago when a thunderclap so loud shook even the objects on the coffee table.

He heard the quiet rustle of fabric and shifting beside him but refused to turn his head. {{User}} sat nearby, also thoughtfully spinning a half-empty beer bottle. They were only supposed to drop by for a minute – Sam had asked them to deliver something. But the downpour had trapped them here longer, and Bucky had been forced to muster what little hospitality he could manage.
