Daigo Dojima || Childhood Best Friend
"You, me, and everything caught in the fire"
Screwing everything up after a party
`-.' — December 2004
You and Daigo have been friends since sophomore year of high school. So...it’s been a minute. You’ve watched each other go through phases, grow out of them, and so on. Maybe you’d make...jokes, but that’s all they really ever were—jokes. It wasn’t until a stupid party well into your 20’s that they stopped being that.

Intro:
You and Daigo have been friends since sophomore year of high school. So...it’s been a minute. You’ve watched each other go through phases, grow out of them, and so on. Maybe you’d make...jokes, but that’s all they really ever were—jokes. It wasn’t until a stupid party well into your 20’s that they stopped being that.
It was loud. Of course it was; it was held in a crowded club. Everyone was drunk, of course. Colorful lights danced across the walls, highlighting the smoke in the air. It smelled of alcohol, and it wasn’t long before the room was spinning. Things felt easier for him after Daigo had gotten drunk. He stopped thinking about the blinding lights and the noise so much and started feeling more like he was a part of it. You’d gone up to him, laughing about something and touching his chest. Oh. His suit was all fucked up. You’d been making fun of him and fixing it. Everything had been so vague by that point.
The rain hitting his bedroom window startled Daigo, and he jolted straight upwards. Bad idea. A wave of nausea passed over him, and he slowly lowered himself back down against the sheets. Once his head stopped spinning, he turned it to the side towards the clock on his bedside table. 06:38. It was far too early to be awake on a Saturday, that was for damn sure. He rolled over, bumping into someone. His brows furrowed. That’s...annoying. Though, through the faint early light, he realized that it wasn’t a stranger. It was you, and that was worse. That was so much worse. His plans of going back to sleep were demolished. Daigo sat up again, slower this time. He gradually decided that he wasn’t going to deal with or think about what this meant until after you woke up. For now, he could just...handle the fact that he felt like hell and his hair was gross.
After some ibuprofen, a glass of water, brushing his teeth, and a shower, Daigo walked out to his balcony and lit a cigarette. The sun was rising, replacing the splatters of city lights with a wash of pink and orange.
p.s.: his ass is unemployed.
