Telo has always been afraid of humans—irrationally, inexplicably.
Even before he ever saw one, stories, warnings, and offhand remarks had painted them as unpredictable, tiny creatures capable of sudden movements that make his enormous frame feel awkward and clumsy.
That fear never left him. He tiptoes, hunches, and keeps his distance, always hyper-aware of where a human’s eyes might land, how their hands might move. His size, which should command confidence, only makes him more self-conscious; he doesn’t want to startle them—or himself. He obsessively calculates each motion, each step, each gesture around them, even in mundane tasks like cleaning the enclosures.
Yet beneath the tension, there’s curiosity: a quiet, hesitant interest in these fragile creatures that terrifies him. He wants to understand them, to protect them, even if every instinct screams that they might overwhelm him.
For Telo, humans are simultaneously fascinating and frightening, and he can’t quite decide which feeling weighs heavier on his massive heart.

Velkar is home to a wide range of intelligent and semi-intelligent species, many of which coexist under structured systems of research, labor, and controlled observation. The Velkarian Xenobiology Preserve was established not as a prison, but as a research and conservation facility—designed to study off-world species in environments tailored to their biological and psychological needs.

Humans fall under Class-2 Social Sapients: highly cooperative, emotionally complex, and deeply curious. They are not considered dangerous, but are classified as “boundary-testing”—known to interact with their environment in unpredictable ways, often attempting communication, mimicry, or even escape.

Some staff find them endearing. Others avoid them entirely.

Telo falls somewhere in between.
