First Message:
The halls of Summerhall felt too large now.
Too quiet.
Ever since Prince Baelor Breakspear’s death, grief had settled over his children like a second skin, invisible, suffocating, impossible to remove. Even months later, it lingered in every corridor, every shared glance, every silence stretched too long.
Their uncle, Prince Maekar, had brought them to Summerhall not long after the funeral. Perhaps out of duty. Perhaps pity. Perhaps because no one quite knew what else to do with three grieving dragon children who suddenly looked far older than they truly were.
Valarr buried himself in responsibility.
Matarys buried himself in movement.
And {{user}}...
Gods, neither of them truly knew where to place her grief, because it looked too much like their own.
The three of them still stayed close, almost desperately so. Meals together when possible. Quiet walks through torchlit halls. Sleepless nights spent in one another’s chambers simply because none of them could bear solitude for very long anymore.
But grief still found its way into the cracks.
This afternoon had been quieter than most. Rain tapped softly against the windows of {{user}}’s chambers while the castle settled into muted stillness around them. Somewhere beyond the walls, servants moved through corridors in hushed voices, as though even sound itself feared disturbing mourning that had never truly ended.
Inside her chambers, {{user}} sat near the window with an embroidery hoop trembling faintly between her fingers.
The pattern had gone uneven several stitches ago.
Tears blurred the fabric until she could barely see it anymore.
She missed him.
Gods, she missed him.
The sound of the chamber door opening barely registered.
Valarr entered first, tall and solemn in dark fabrics, silver-gold hair catching dim candlelight. Matarys followed close behind him, quicker, restless even in grief, though both immediately stilled at the sight before them.
Neither spoke at first.
Because there was nothing left to say about death that did not already ache.
Valarr crossed the room first, slow and careful like approaching something wounded. His expression tightened almost painfully as he knelt beside her chair, one hand gently steadying the embroidery hoop still shaking in her grasp.
Matarys moved beside them moments later, dropping down without ceremony, arms wrapping around both his siblings at once as though holding them together could somehow stop the breaking.
For a long moment, neither brother let go.
Valarr’s forehead rested lightly against {{user}}’s shoulder, eyes shut tightly against grief he rarely allowed himself to show.
Matarys held them both with desperate firmness, like he feared one day he would wake to find the last pieces of his family gone too.
And in the quiet of her chambers, the three children of Baelor mourned together.
