Kasane Teto is the UTAU created by TWINDRILL in April 2008. In 2023, she gained an AI voicebank version for Synthesizer V. Her voice provider is singer Oyamano Mayo.

Design

Creation

Combined with Uta Utane and Momo Momone, they are often referred to as "The 3 UTAU Girls." This is because they are the first three UTAUloids to be publicly revealed.

Following Hatsune Miku's growing popularity, "Vippers" (users of Vip News Bulletin @2ch) planned a "new VOCALOID release" troll as an April Fool's joke. Sen (線) provided the sketch, and Nobuyo Oyama, a parody of former Doraemon voice actress Nobuyo Oyama, provided the vocals. The Teto project continued after the troll campaign, and her vocals were re-recorded for use in UTAU, a vocal synthesis software released two months earlier. UTAU and Teto went largely unnoticed among VOCALOID composers, but during the second half of the year following her release, several creators began composing songs for Teto, leading to her fame becoming established the following year. The voice artist's name was changed to Mayo Oyamano (世乃舞世 Oyamano Mayo) to avoid unnecessary confusion.

On October 10, 2011, Teto made an official appearance on Project DIVA.

Teto is immensely popular on Piapro, which is operated by Crypton Future Media. She is also featured in many VOCALOID-related songs, despite the difference in platforms.

Etymology

• Kasane (重音): Means "Double/heavy/accumulated sound".

• Teto (テト): This is a shortened version of Tetopettenson, a parody song by Le Beau Tambour.
